2-step
Staged, then checked before live
The Problem
The client sells tools and hardware online through Shopify, while Cin7 Core holds the inventory and pricing. The two systems did not talk to each other, so every supplier price change meant someone updating both by hand, across a catalog of thousands of SKUs.
- Weekly price lists: new supplier pricing arrived every week and had to be keyed in twice.
- MAP rules: many brands set a minimum advertised price. One typo could put the store below a supplier's floor.
- Product data gaps: many products had no weight or dimensions, so shipping rates came out wrong or the item could not be added to the cart.
The System
I built a pipeline that moves changes from the price list to the live store in stages, with a check before anything goes public.
- Cin7 ↔ Shopify sync through the APIs: prices and stock levels flow from Cin7 Core to Shopify without anyone retyping them.
- Zapier, Airtable and Google Sheets workflows: the weekly price list is the single input. Workflows clean it up, apply the pricing rules and hand it to the sync.
- Batch staging and validation: changes go out in batches of about 200 SKUs. Each batch is staged in Cin7 first and checked before it is pushed to Shopify, where it lands as drafts for a final review.
- MAP handling: products with a minimum advertised price are flagged and checked against it, so the store does not advertise below the supplier's floor.
- Shipping data: missing weights and dimensions are filled in and synced to Shopify and the shipping app, so rates come out right and products can be added to the cart.

The Result
- 10+ hours a week saved on manual price and inventory updates.
- Batches of around 200 SKUs go live at a time, each one validated first.
- Fewer pricing errors: MAP checks and the staged review catch mistakes before customers see them.
- Better product data: weights and dimensions are filled in, so shipping quotes are accurate.
The weekly price list is now a routine job, and the team spends the time it used to take on the store itself.
